Why now?
Why start now?
That shiny thing you’ve wanted to pick up, or pick up again, has sat in the back of your mind (or in a dusty corner in storage) for a long time - months, years, maybe decades. Today, you took the next step. Maybe you aren’t holding that shiny thing in your hands right now, but somehow you ended up here. So, why now?
Take a minute to find your “why.”
Really. Don’t skip this step. Grab a sheet of paper or a napkin and scribble it down.
Maybe you played in the past and loved it until life got in the way. Maybe you want to play music with people because fun and deep human connection have been so hard to come by. Maybe this is a big-ticket item on your bucket list, and you regret never starting in the first place.
Take your “why” and keep it close. Put it in a journal, on the fridge, or on a sticky note in your trumpet case. You’re in the driver’s seat, but from now on, your “why” is riding shotgun.
